Corozo is a nut from a palm tree that grows in the tropical rainforests of northwest South America. It is 100% vegetable material, and because of its hard consistency is also known as vegetable ivory. Corozo is breakage resistant and can withstand high heat which makes it a good source for garment buttons that might need to be dry cleaned or washed. The natural color of corozo is a cream white, and it can be dyed to any color. The buttons listed on this page are actual slices from the corozo nut. The natural bark of the nut has been used as a frame for the button. There will be natural variations in size and shape with each button.
